How is the Sportscruiser caravan made?

Backed by more than a decade of product development the Sportscruiser Caravans caravans are built with:

A super strong galvanised chassis on which sits a thick ply floor with the underside fibreglassed for protection.
Each wall is a one piece engineered sandwich, with the beautifully finished high gloss fibreglass on both sides vacuum bonded to a high density, structural, fire resistant foam core that doesn’t absorb water. Aluminium RHS sections are also bonded inside the sandwich to add strength and also provide a base for bolting fittings, like the roll out awning.
The front/roof section is also a single piece sandwich made the same way.The thick fibreglass external surface is far superior to the aluminium used in other vans and is resistant to hail damage etc.
The body of the SPORTSCRUISER is bonded together using special SIKA high strength adhesives such as is used in boats and aircraft. This gives the completed van enormous strength and rigidity and also minimises the risk of leaks.
Suspension designed by the specialists to be “bullet proof” in Australian conditions. 12” brake drums and oversize parallel bearings have been used to give greater strength and reliability.
Furniture that is made from the very latest PVC based composite which is waterproof and vibration resistant – an advance on plywood and other composites.
The best available fixtures, appliances, and fittings – the same as used in the big luxury vans.

In addition, the dedicated factory has only one focus – TO PRODUCE A TOP QUALITY PRODUCT!! Quality of the product is everything!!

The factory and management welcomes feedback from dealers and customers alike and is constantly looking for any improvements that can be incorporated into the production process

Layout and Inclusions

The standard and most popular layout is the one shown below, which with a few minutes easy work can convert from queen double bed to 2 x single beds.

An important feature is that the beds can remain made up as you travel – unlike many small vans that require you to convert the seats to beds every night.

A bunk van is also available, so the whole family can holiday together or grandchildren can ‘sleepover’ with their travelling grandparents.

In all of the caravans:

The kitchen has a stainless steel glass topped sink plus 3 burner gas stove across the rear wall, and a combined shower/toilet in the rear corner.
The main storage drawers and cupboards, together with the Dometic 3 way refrigerator, are located in the centre of the van over the axle for better weight distribution.
The seating and beds in the front section all have storage underneath. The under bed storage can also be accessed from large lockable outside hatches, making access easy. QUALITY is the ‘theme’ when looking at everything we include as standard. All the way through, the best available fittings have been used

There are very few ‘optional extras’ because we have already included all the things you need to drive away and use your new Sportscruiser Caravans.

About Us

Sportscruiser Caravans Pty Ltd is a company set up by people with decades of experience in caravan manufacturing, high tech. materials, and practical touring around Australia in camper trailers and caravans. The purpose of the company is to 100% focus, without compromise, on the production and further development of the “SPORSTCRUISER” small caravan.

The design brief for the SPORTSCRUISER was that it had to be:

Lightweight and towable by ‘ordinary’ vehicles
Manoeuvrable and easily handled by users
Have all comforts for travel e.g. bathroom, kitchen, storage
Have superior insulation to cope with Australia’s climate
Strong to cope with the Australian roads
Damage resistant and easy to maintain
Practicable and with a “liveable” layout

Proven material, construction technology and expertise already being used by Grandcruiser Caravans in the construction of their big luxury caravans was utilised – so the SPORTSCRUISER has over a decade of technological innovation behind them.

Experience and user input was also very important in developing the SPORTSCRUISER. However, this was backed up by sophisticated Computer Aided Design [CAD] programs. This ensured that everything works and fits together perfectly, caravan after caravan.

A dedicated factory has been set up to build the SPORTSCRUISER. Again, the focus is 100% on producing a high quality caravan.

Who are we? Simply a manufacturer with a single vision – to produce a 15-16’ caravan of the highest quality and style, without compromise, but still at a reasonable price.
